How to cook currant compote for the winter
1. Pour gooseberries and currants (previously washed) into jars.
2. Fill jars of berries with water to the top. Immediately drain the water into a saucepan, where add 500 grams of sugar.
3. Boil water with sugar.
4. Pour the berries in jars with syrup.
5. Place jars with gooseberry-currant compote in a pot of hot water (water should be three quarters of the height of the jars), sterilize for 10 minutes.
6. Roll up jars with compote with lids.

Gooseberries – 1 kilogram
Currants (red or black) – half a kilogram
Sugar – 1.5 cups (300 grams)
Water – 2.5 liters

How to quickly prepare compote from gooseberries and currants
1. Sort and wash the gooseberries in a colander. Pour the berries into a bowl.
2. Sort currants and wash in a colander. Add the berries to the pan with the gooseberries.
3. Pour 2.5 liters of water and pour 1.5 cups of sugar into a saucepan with berries.
4. Boil the compote for 5 minutes after boiling.
5. Let the compote brew for 40 minutes, then strain the drink through a large sieve.
The drink is ready. Pour the compote into glasses, add a mint leaf and three ice cubes to each.

– For cooking compote, both black and red currants are suitable. If the berries are very acidic, double the amount of sugar.
